We are delighted to honor and help our old friend and most senior Iyengar teacher in this part of the world, El Tortuga Grande, aka George Purvis, Texas's own Free Range Yogi. This is a fundraising effort to contribute to George's medical bills. There will also be a raffle afterwards where we will offer many yoga-type prizes (see the list below).
A group of George's Austin students (Peggy Kelley, Devon Dederich, Anne Schultz, Emilie Rogers, Esta Herold, Jonathan Troen, Mary Scott and Jason Lobo) will lead a class in honor of George, perhaps in the style of George, and heading toward one of George's favorite poses. This class will be for all levels of student, and while we will work our way to some difficult poses, there will always be something helpful for everyone at any level to do.
When: Saturday, Oct. 31, 9am - noon
Where: Clear Spring Studio, 605 A Copeland St
(park in the interior of the lot only, not on the street. And we and the neighbors always like carpooling.)
Suggested Donation: $40, but any amount will do perfectly.
If you write a check, make it out to George Purvis, and not to any of us.
Raffle tickets: $20 each, but look at what you might win:
(Note: only one item per winning ticket)
One Tall Chair from Texas Tall Chairs
One Month Life Mastery Personal Coaching with Jonathan Troen
One Slanting Plank from Ruben and Melissa
One Private Yoga Lesson With Anne
One-Hour Massage from Susan Snyder (ClarksvilleMassage.com)
One Designer Bolster from Concho Yoga
One Five-Class Pass from Devon at Clear Spring

100% of all proceeds will go to George, to help defray his many medical bills.
Contact Anne Schultz (Anne_Marie_Schultz at Baylor.edu) or any of the people above listed, or your own yoga teacher, for raffle tickets. They will take your money, or they will know what to do to help you help George.
